PLAYLIKEHER started with my daughter Evelyn. Like so many parents, I spent hours on the sidelines — watching, supporting, driving her to training, and just wanting to do the best I could to help her enjoy and develop in the game she loves. But I realised there wasn't anything out there designed specifically for young female footballers. Something to guide them, support them, and help them make sense of their journey.
So we built it together.
This journal was originally made for Evelyn — a way to capture her matches, reflect on how she's feeling, build confidence, and enjoy the ups and downs of a season. Something she could keep in her kit bag and use week in, week out. It quickly became more than that.
Evelyn started out exactly where most girls do — playing grassroots football, loving the game, working hard every week. That journey, combined with the right support, the right mindset, and a whole lot of early weekend mornings, took her from grassroots all the way into academy football. I'm not a coach. I'm not an ex-pro. I'm just a dad who paid attention, stayed involved, and cared deeply about helping his daughter thrive in the sport she loves. And somewhere along the way, I picked up a thing or two about what actually helps young female footballers develop — on the pitch and off it.
